Clipstream™ Live includes a customizable .ini file which enables you to change the quality, speed and dimensions of your Live streams.

By default Clipstream™ Live allows you to stream three live video streams (modem, DSL/Cable stream, LAN stream). These were chosen to provide quality streams for what we estimate is possible for common bandwidth configurations. However, you may wish to tweak the settings for each of these in order to provide the best quality stream for your deployment.

View all the streams
First, determine if you are streaming all of the possible streams that Clipstream™ Live allows. Go to the Live Streams menu and make sure that all of the streams are checked.

Once you have these checked, quit Clipstream™ Live and then launch it again. All of the streams will be available the next time you view your web page.

The live.ini file
The quality, dimensions, frame rate and audio quality of these streams is determined by a text file included with Clipstream™ Live called the "live.ini" file. Editing this file is as simple as opening it in a text editor such as Notepad, making changes, saving and restarting Clipstream™ Live. Follow the steps below to try this.

1. Changing the live.ini file
Find the live.ini file in the folder where Clipstream™ Live is installed in your PC. (By default this folder is usually located in c:/programs/Clipstream/Clipstream Live/). It looks like this:
2. Quit the Clipstream™ Live application.
Live will write to the .ini file with its current settings upon closing. So you must make sure it is not running before editing the live.ini file.

3. Open live.ini
Right-click on the live.ini icon and "open with" Notepad.

4. Choose a stream to edit
In the opened live.ini file in Notepad, scroll down to either of the sections marked [live044.vcs], [live128.vcs], or [live256.vcs].

Do not change the labels! (i.e. do not change [live044.vcs] to [live056.vcs].) These labels are hard coded and Clipstream™ Live will not work if you do. If you are experimenting you are advised to make a backup copy of the original live.ini so that you can revert to it in the event of a mistake.

You will see the settings lines laid out like this:
The editable lines are in green. A short description and parameters of the editable settings is below:

QualityMin=75 - Maximum quality that the live stream is rendered at -(15-90)
QualityMax=35 - Minumum quality that the lvie stream is rendered at - (15-90)
Width=320 - Width of the video in pixels.
Height=240 - Height of the video in pixels.
FPS=8 fps - Frames Per Second - (1-30 fps)
AudioBPS=32k - Audio Bits Per Second - (12-32k)
TotalBPS=600k (Broadband) - The bandwidth estimated to be needed to view this stream. (0-1000k)

All other lines should not be changed or do not affect quality.

5. See the results
Save the live.ini. Then launch (or restart) the Clipstream™ Live application.

Let Clipstream™ Live detect your IP.
The image in the actual application display will not reflect the changes you have made.

6. Start the stream
Press the Start/Stop button to begin streaming.

7. View the web page
In the Live Streams menu make sure that all of the streams are checked. (If they are not, check them and then restart Clipstream™ Live and start the stream again.)

Then choose View Web Page.

8. See the way it looks on the web page
The updated streams will appear on a new web page.

9. Future changes
To make more changes, you must open up the live.ini file, edit it, and restart Clipstream™ Live again. If you find settings that you like, you may wish to make a copy of the live.ini as a backup.

Download, install and try Clipstream™ Live before deciding
