Configuring the Clipstream™ Live Repeater
The Clipstream™ Live Repeater can be configured to take a stream from an existing Clipstream™ Live webcast, output to a specified port, and allocate a certain amount of bandwidth for the stream. You can also restrict access to the Repeater administration by specifying a password.

Before you begin
The Repeater must already be running for you to configure it. Go to Starting the Repeater to learn how.

The Clipstream™ Live Repeater administration page
The administration page can be seen by any web browser. By entering relevant information into the fields and then clicking the Set and Restart button you can adjust how the Repeater works.
For basic operation Clipstream Live URL and the Set & Restart button is all that is necessary.

Specify a Clipstream™ Live stream to repeat
Use the URL of an existing Clipstream™ Live stream and identify it as the original stream you want to repeat.
  • Type in or paste a URLof an existing Clipstream™ Live stream into the Clipstream™ Live URL field.

*Note: If you don't have an active Clipstream™ Live original stream to repeat, go to the Quickstart page and follow the steps there to syndicate one of our own running streams.

You now have told the Repeater to look for this stream.

Repeater Port
The server from which you are running the Repeater may have several other functions (the Repeater and Clipstream™ Live do not need a dedicated system) so you may wish to assign a dedicated or secure port exclusively for Clipstream™ Live. If that is the case you can enter in the port number in this field.

*Note:
If you add a port number, in testing the Repeated stream in a browser you will need to add it into the URL you enter into the address bar.

ex. http://64.141.83.21:8080/
Root folder / Cache folder
By changing these fields you can specify non-default locations for the files that you copied or installed as part of the Repeater package. Avoid changing this unless you really need to. All these folders must be located inside the folder on your server where you installed the Repeater.

The Cache field specifies where temporary files that the Repeater takes from the originating Clipstream™ Live stream are housed.

The .\web default folder specified in the Root field, is a folder on the server that can house a custom page that the server can use to override the original page shell taken from the originating webcaster. More on this in Default filename.
Default filename
By default the Repeater will generate a page that will look like the page showing the live stream from the original Clipstream™ Live webcaster. However, you can create a custom page, save it on your server in the Root folder (specified in that field), and the Repeater will use that custom page in lieu of what is in the cache. This field allows you to point the Repeater to a new page filename.

*Note: The Repeater will always look in the .\web folder for a custom page first before taking the originator's page.
Max bandwidth (kbps)
Enter in a number that limits the estimated total bandwidth the Repeated stream will allow from all connections combined concurrently.

ex. 25600
25600 divided by 256kbps = 100 connections at 256kbps allowed at the same time. 256k is the default suggested high bandwidth connection.
Set & Restart
If you make any changes to the configuration you must click the Set and Restart button so that the Repeater can reload its repeating stream to adopt your changes.
CleanCache
If the originating stream makes any changes to its graphics, .HTML page or buttonset, you must click the Clean Cache button to erase any old temporary files located in the Cache folder.
Change password
By default you can login to the Repeater admin without entering a password. However, to secure it, just click this button and type in a password you will remember.
