Reporting results from the Clipstream™ Live Repeater
The Repeater saves a log file containing audience information such as individual IP addresses, start and stop connections, and browser and OS statistics. You can access the log file from the server and read it in a text editor.

Before you begin
A log file will only be written if you have already run the Repeater and had others (or yourself) view the generated page.

Finding the log files
The log files are written into the \log\ directory in the installed folder of the Repeater on the server station.

Which log files?
The Repeater may have saved several different .log files in that folder depending on how long you have been using the Repeater. Each .log file is saved with the date they were changed (of course you can also view the file properties themselves).
  • clipstreamliveAdmin files record the dates and times whenever someone logged into the Repeater admin page.
  • Any clipstreamlive .. with dates in the filename are log files of actual webcasts carried out on those dates.
Reading the log files
Open up the log files in any text editor. You will see a page like this:
Although it looks confusing, you can analyze it by parsing out the following:
  • IP addresses: - the log lists every instance of an individual IP connecting or disconnecting to the Repeater stream. Search for individual IPs.
  • Dates:
  • - you can work out usage based upon time by analyzing the dates and times shown.
  • Browser stats - the individual browsers used to view the content.
